Field Studies |

|
Field studies play an important role in any artist's development. The majority of my field work involves photography and the creation of reference material. Wildlife typically doesn't pose for you and even if you are fortunate enough to come across an obliging animal or bird they usually don't stay still long enough for you to render a sketch let alone a detailed drawing. Without the use of reference photos back in the studio it would be difficult to complete the finished piece. Reference photos include shooting landscapes that are the usual habitat of the species that I desire to draw and then later in the process the wildlife is combined with the landscape images. This section will show some of the areas that I have travelled to and the photos taking that will either become pieces of art or assist in the development of my art. If you are interested in a particular field study simply click on the photo for more details. In addition to my art, the photographs in the field studies can be purchased. Prices, size and style information can be found on the Photography Retail page.
