About "Cattle Country"

"Cattle Country" is a large landscape of an area that I visited while on a truly authentic cattle drive offered through the Double Rafter ranch in Ranchester, Wyoming. ( www.doublerafter.com ). This particular ride was the September drive which is teh drive that gathers the entire herd; over 500 head, from the high country in the Little Big Horn Mountain range and drive them down to the foothills for the winter months.

The morning that the reference photos were taken for this piece, we awoke to over a foot of fresh snow. We had clothing for any type of weather, however the amount of snow that had arrived over night was a little unexpected to say the least. I was probably one of the more enthused riders ,as the fresh snow led to some spectacular scenery.
