About "The Gift"
This piece was inspired by a series of photographs that a colleague took and has been kind enough to allow me to use. The story behind the series is that the male swallow collects feathers and brings them to his mate, she then takes them back to her nest and lines the base of it. It is thought that this layer of feathers not only cushions the eggs but provides some extra insulation for the incubation period.
The title of this piece was easy to choose. The difficult challenge to this piece was to ensure that the barb wire in each individual drawing was exactly the same. You will notice that the males foot placement does not change throughout the entire exchange.
