This is a very long piece that has a total of 12 shorebirds and several Horseshoe Crabs incorporated into it. The Red Knot is a small endangered shorebird that has an incredible story. The Red Knot winters in Argentina, flies to Delaware Bay in the United States where it replenishes it's fat stores and then continues on to the Canadian Arctic where it raises it's young near James Bay. An amazing journey for such a small bird and is total dependant upon the survival and breeding season of the horseshoe crab. The nutrition factor in the eggs of the horseshoe crab is what allows to Red Knot to replenish its stores quickly and then continue its flight north.

This piece is done completely in graphite. As part of the sale of this piece 50% of the proceeds will be donated to Nature Canada to help with their conservation efforts.
