Clean - Brown Pelican

This piece was done shortly after the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010. The Brown Pelican is preening itself, bringing attention to the fact that the cleanliness of the birds feathers is crucial to the survival of this beautiful bird.

The piling that the pelican was perched on had some really interesting two toned rope wrapped around it. I feel that I have captured the texture and strength of the rope rather well.
